The British government warned Thursday the UK nationals not to travel to Western Sahara due to risks of Coronavirus and security reasons, in a note on its official website with which it published a map of Western Sahara as a separate territory from Morocco.
“The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel to the whole of Western Sahara based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.”
“In addition and for security reasons FCDO advises against all travel to areas of Western Sahara within 30km north/west of the Berm, areas of Western Sahara south/east of the Berm,” the British government warned.
The British government recalled that “Western Sahara is a disputed territory and the UK regards its status as undetermined.”
The message of the British Government deals a severe blow to Morocco’s recent propaganda campaign regarding London’s imminent recognition of its alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara, and its intention to open a consulate in the occupied Saharan territories.
