The Danish Parliament will on Thursday, March 18th, hold an open session of consultations on the situation in Western Sahara, Sumoud has learned from an informed source.

The session, which will be attended by members of the government, including the ministers of foreign affairs, trade and industry, will be devoted to the situation in Western Sahara, particularly developments related to international efforts to organize the self-determination referendum, the file of natural resources, and the position of the Danish government on Trump’s declaration on Western Sahara.

The Danish Parliament wants the government to take firm stand on a number of issues related to the Western Sahara issue, notably the pressure to end the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and impose compliance with European Court decisions that considered economic agreements with Morocco contrary to international law.

During the session, the Danish government will also be urged to ensure that Danish companies do not participate in perpetuating the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
