Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said on Friday that diplomatic efforts are being made with the aim of reviving the settlement process in Western Sahara.

The head of Irish diplomacy said that the particularly pressing priorities were the appointment of a new Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara.

The minister reiterated his country’s position in support of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara, the United Nations-led process, and the efforts of the Secretary-General to reach a final and acceptable settlement for Morocco and the Polisario Front.
