Norway’s Foreign Minister, Ms. Ine Eriksen Søreide, made clear Thursday that her country is committed to keeping away from all activities that might legitimize the status quo in Western Sahara.
The Norwegian diplomacy chief highlighted in a written response delivered to the Norwegian parliament – a copy of which was received by the Sumoud website – that since 2007 the Norwegian government has taken a preventive approach towards Western Sahara.
Norway was the only country in Europe that has formally advised Norwegian companies to avoid violating international law in Western Sahara, she said.
The Norwegian positions on Western Sahara are firm and in line with UN Security Council resolutions, as Norway supports the efforts of the United Nations to contribute to finding a solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, she added. (Sumoud)
