The Permanent Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front considered that the deliberations scheduled for October at the UN Security Council on the situation in Western Sahara are a real opportunity that must not be missed to correct the deviation that occurred in the United Nations- African Union peace plan years ago, which forced the Sahrawi party to reconsider dealing with this process as long as it is like this.
The Permanent Office stressed the responsibility of the United Nations to fulfill its obligations towards the Sahrawi people and its sole legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, namely, a referendum in exchange for a ceasefire, on the basis of which its mission to organize the referendum in Western Sahara has been deployed since 1991.
In this regard, the Permanent Office made an urgent appeal to the UN Security Council to redress the lost time by restoring the path of a peaceful solution to the track of justice based on respect for international legitimacy to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination and independence through a free and fair referendum.
The Permanent Office called upon the UN Security Council to compel the occupying Moroccan state to return to the right path, instead of remaining silent about its policy of intransigence and retreating from the positions and agreements it has committed to with the Sahrawi side under the auspices of the United Nations.
