The Special Committee on Decolonization held Wednesday the 2021 Caribbean Regional Seminar in the Parish of Saint John, Dominica, from 25 to 27 August 2021, within the framework of the start of the Fourth International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2021-2030).

The Seminar, which is held under the auspices of the Special Committee, known as the Special Committee of 24, or (C-24), will consider recent developments with respect to the 17 Non-Self-Governing Territories, including Western Sahara, on a case-by-case basis, particularly in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Seminar’s conclusions and recommendations will be considered by the Special Committee and subsequently transmitted to the General Assembly.

The seminar will be attended by the Representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations, Dr Sidi-Mohamed Omar, who is expected on Thursday to address the members of the Committee and the delegates of Member States to update them on the latest developments related to the issue of Western Sahara, especially after the violation of the 1991 ceasefire by the Moroccan occupation state and its aggression on liberated Sahrawi territories on 13 November 2020.
