President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, took part in the 34th African Union Summit, held Saturday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, via remote visual communications technology under the theme “Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want.”
In their summit, the leaders of African countries will discuss reforms of the Union, constant and renewed issues of conflicts, disputes, extremism and terrorism, as well as demands for equitable access to vaccines.
As usual, the Summit brings up the Continental Free Trade Area agreement and other issues associated with the summits.
The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, will assume the rotating presidency of the African Union 2021, succeeding the President of South Africa.
As reported by the Algerian News Agency (APS), the main African Summit agenda is the election of the new commission of the Union, which will be held virtually for four years, for the main positions of the Union, namely the President of the Commission and his deputy, and the positions of six commissioners of the Union.
