The “Citizenship for Human Rights” prize will be awarded, Saturday March 13, to the Sahrawi human rights activist, Sultana Khaya, during a ceremony to be organized by the Cultural Association for Citizenship in la Rioja (Spain), Spanish media reported on Friday.

The Spanish media highlighted the disastrous and serious human rights situation in Western Sahara, through the experience of the Sahrawi human rights activist, Sultana Khaya, a situation that has further deteriorated since the violation of the ceasefire agreement on November 13 by Morocco.

The Sahrawi activist was placed under house arrest and intimidated by Moroccan police without a court order, even banning her from receiving visits.

Sultana Khaya, who received new death threats from Moroccan occupation forces, was placed under house arrest in her family home in the occupied city of Boujdour.
