The UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders, Mary Lawlor, expressed Wednesday her deep concern at the continued barbaric attacks by Moroccan security forces against Sahrawi human rights defender Sultana Khaya.
The UN official said in tweet she posted on her Twitter account, “I’m hearing disturbing reports that Woman Human Rights Defender Sultana Khaya was assaulted by security agents who raided her home in Western Sahara. I’m told some property was damaged or seized”.
The United Nations official stressed that the Moroccan regime continued to launch attacks against women human rights defenders in Western Sahara and did not respond to the United Nations call made early June.
