Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, on Wednesday expressed his country’s solidarity with the Sahrawi people, calling for a resumption of negotiations to find a solution to the Western Sahara issue.
The Vietnamese diplomat stressed, during the session of the UN Security Council on the situation in Western Sahara, the need to support the efforts of the MINURSO mission to reinforce peace in Western Sahara, according to the Vietnamese News Agency.
Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy called for a peaceful dialogue on the basis of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, with the aim of seeking to take just and appropriate measures that achieve the aspirations of the Sahrawi people.
The UN Security Council discussed the situation in Western Sahara, where two reports were presented, the first by the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Africa, Bintou Keita, and the second by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Colin Stewart.
