The UN Security Council holds today, Wednesday, a session devoted to discussing the situation in Western Sahara, based on the report of the UN Secretary-General submitted in early October.

The Security Council members are expected to receive a draft resolution on Western Sahara within the coming days for a vote before the end of the MINURSO’s mandate on 31 October.

The UN Security Council held its first meeting on Monday to assess the work of the MINURSO in the presence of the secretary general’s special representative, Colin Stewart, and the countries contributing to the Mission.
