The Kenyan presidency of the Security Council has revealed that the UN Secretary-General would deliver Friday his annual report on developments in Western Sahara to the Security Council.

The Council will hold a meeting on 11 October with countries contributing military forces and police personnel to the United Nations Referendum Mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO), where it will hear briefings respectively by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Alexander Ivanko, and the Department of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding.

It will hold on 13 October a closed session to discuss developments in Western Sahara and to submit proposals for the draft resolution, which will be put to a vote on October 27.

The discussions of the UN Security Council this year come in light of developments worthy of follow-up with regard to the resumption of the war in Western Sahara and its repercussions at the regional and international levels.
